Anker Nano Charger Neo (45-65W) on a MacBook Air: Every Profile

Anker's Nano Charger Neo on a MacBook Air M5: it offers 65 W straight away through a 5A cable, 60 W through a 3A one, reports Xiaomi's vendor ID, and keeps its AVS for PD 3.2 devices.

Anker’s Nano Charger Neo, model A120M, sold as “Dynamic 45W - 65W”. Tested against a MacBook Air M5 per the methodology . This first test covers its profiles and how it connects. It drew 59.8 W live; a filmed low-battery test comes in the next video.

What the charger sends the Mac:

Profile5A cable3A cable
15 W5 V up to 3 A5 V up to 3 A
27 W9 V up to 3 A9 V up to 3 A
45 W15 V up to 3 A15 V up to 3 A
Peak20 V up to 3.25 A (65 W, active)20 V up to 3 A (60 W, active)
PPS5 - 11 V up to 5 A5 - 11 V up to 3 A

These come straight from the list the charger sent, read from macOS. There’s no 12 V rail, and no AVS.

Straight to 65 W

Plug it in and the 65 W rung is active immediately. Apple’s 40W Dynamic behaves differently: it starts at 40 W and steps up to 60 W a moment later. The Anker has no visible starting level. It offers its peak from the first connection.

Whether it steps down after a long, hot charge is what the next test will show. The box calls it 45 - 65 W, but the charger never tells the Mac about a 45 W level at 20 V. More on how dynamic chargers are supposed to behave in What DPS means on a USB-C charger .

The cable decides 65 or 60

The 65 W rung is 20 volts at 3.25 amps, more than the 3 amps a plain cable is allowed. Through our Anker 240W test cable , which is 5A and e-marked, the charger offers the full 65 W. Through a 3A cable, it rewrites its own list: 20 V drops to 3 A, which is 60 W, and the PPS range drops from 5 A to 3 A as well.

So a 3A cable costs you the top 5 W and the phone fast-charging headroom. USB Connection Information lists the 65 W peak as “Requires 5A Cable” when that happens, and sends a cable-limit alert.

A MacBook Air M5 can take up to 72 W, so the Air has room for all 65. Here’s what it actually drew, same charger, same Mac, only the cable changed:

CableLive draw
5A e-marked59.8 W (19 V at 3.15 A)
Plain 3A55.2 W (19 V at 2.91 A)

The cable alone cost 4.6 W. And look at the voltage: 19 V, not 20. By the time power reaches the Mac, some of it has been lost in the cable and connectors, so getting close to 60 W into the laptop took 3.15 A, more than a plain cable allows. On a 3A cable the Mac stopped at 2.91 A, the same ceiling we’ve seen on other 3 A contracts, like Apple’s 40W Dynamic at 56.1 W and the Apple 61W at 57.6 W.

So a “60 W” contract over a plain cable puts roughly 55 to 58 W into a MacBook. It took the 5A cable to get this charger to 59.8 W. You won’t find that on a box. You only see it by reading the Mac’s own numbers.

It reports Xiaomi’s vendor ID

Ask the charger who made it, and it answers with Xiaomi Communications’ USB vendor ID, not Anker’s. That’s the ID written into the charger’s Power Delivery controller. It’s likely a supplier’s firmware or ID. We can’t tell which from the charger alone.

It’s the second Anker in this series to name someone else. The Anker 33W names its chip maker, Southchip. USB Connection Information recognises this charger from its vendor ID and exact profile list, and shows it as the Anker Nano Charger Neo.

Buying one

The Anker Nano Charger Neo is a small 65 W charger that gives a MacBook Air everything it can use, as long as you pair it with a 5A cable. A burgundy version was listed as shipping in early November when we checked in September 2026.
